    • First, I d like to note that a chose a title from this series because at the school library I volunteer at, Encyclopedia Brown has been very popular among the 3rd and 4th graders and I wanted to see what it was all about I was really surprised to find that the series is quite old This led me to wonder whether the library collection was lacking mysteries, or whether this series had been book talked in some way by the teachers Leroy Encyclopedia Brown has never gotten a case wrong The child detect [...]

    • Another good one with lots of fun mini mysteries to solve I found these ones, for the most part, a little easier to reason through And there were fewer stories with solutions that depend on a now unfamiliar aspect of living than the last volume I read I can t recommend these books to young mystery lovers often enough

    • Leroy Brown is back in the next six books in the Encyclopedia Brown series As Idaville s ten year old star detective, Encyclopedia has an uncanny knack for trivia With his unconventional knowledge, he solves mysteries for the neighborhood kids through his own detective agency But his dad also happens to be the chief of the Idaville police department, and every night around the dinner table, Encyclopedia helps him solve some of the most baffling crimes With ten confounding mysteries in each book, [...]

    • I recommend Encyclopedia Brown I was 8 when I first encountered this series I loved it It was recommended by a boy that I liked What I liked about these books is that it taught me how to think before making wild guesses Each book had several cases which were easy to read and follow for a child I recommend this to any parent looking for helping their child to use logic and deductive reasoning Great on how to look at relevant facts at a child s level.

    • The Case of the Broken Globe is just awful Other than that, this volume is really about careful reading than applied reasoning And it is getting than a little creepy how cynical and jaded ten year old Leroy Brown is.

    • i think i was mostly averse to this story simply because i thought that by the time i was 25 i would manage to solve the cases myself but no, this book still had me using fingers to mark my place in the answers stupid encyclopedia is bad for my self esteem.
