    • I admit it I an a litte biased when it comes to Peter James s books Although originally a horror writer he is now best known for his remarkable Inspector Grace novels which are bases in and around where I live There are several revues of his books here including my favoutite Not Dead Enough, but in a departure from these stories he produced Faith, the story of a plastic surgeon and his wife Faith In this book the characters are so clearly drawn and believable that James works your imagination fo [...]

    • This is the first Peter James book I ve read If the quality of the writing, the excellent characterisations, and gripping plot lines in Faith are any indication of his other works, I ll be back for This is a true descent into evil, where a fractured man tries to control his wife and will stop at nothing to keep her under his control Having endured a relationship where I was controlled by a man who expected me to stay home, gave me a car and restricted where I could drive it, and banned me from [...]

    • When it is discovered that Faith is terminally ill her husband, Ross, appears to move heaven and earth to find a cure Not happy with clinical trials and low success rates Faith seeks help with alternative medicine, not realizing how life changing her decision will be.This book had me hooked from the start I enjoyed how some of the early chapters went back in time and explained the thoughts and actions of the antagonist Ross The relationships between Ross, his wife and son are complex and distort [...]

    • A backlist book from Peter James I particularly like his Roy Grace series so inevitably this was slightly disappointing However, on the whole an enjoyable read if not an entirely plausible plot in places

    • It was a good holiday novel, but nothing that inspiring.I m not into the whole My husband is controlling me scenario.

    • BRILLIANT PURE GENIUSPeter James is one of few truly extraordinary writers His prose is crystal clear, character specific, and his understanding of human nature is staggering The pure, quietly astonishished, restful yet obsessive state one tumbles into reading this book, brought me profound, pure, uncomplicated happiness Peter Jame s stories are each unique from all others of his stories, are deeply and deceptively layered, with not an event, thought or action that EVER rings false Jame s fathom [...]

    • Loved this novel at the start, but as I got further through it I felt like it got and far fetched Still enjoyed it and keen to see what would happen, just not as much as I originally anticipated.

    • I thoroughly enjoyed this story, although it is slightly different from any other James book not paranormal like Dreamer or The truth , neither crime Roy Grace style For me the main theme is the character, Ross Ransome s slow but certain degeneration, his mental break down if you will I almost felt sorry for the poor guy in the endd I think that is what James intended Having a rapport with the characters in such a way that you feel their emotions, even understand it in a way It is interesting th [...]

    • I ve got a book that you ll love said a friend a few months ago, it s about this guy who s a control freak and manages to send his wife to a psychiatric hospital to stop her from leaving him Sure I said, sounds good.Out pops Faith by Peter James. This is the moment I metaphorically kicked myself for being such a book snob Peter James is not an author I ever envisioned myself reading Having spent the past year and a half working in a bookshop, we ve always had a steady stream of his work moving on [...]

    • Definitely my favourite of the pre Roy Grace novels, if not the favourite so far Just like his brilliant Grace series, this book is intriguing like all his other books and in this instance, centres on obsession, perceptions of perfection and toxicology The author achieves all this greatness by utilizing hardboiled noir and bonkbuster techniques in his writing to keep you hooked The characters he has created are well crafted and get to know them To the point where you just cant put the book down [...]

    • I gotta say I have loved every Peter James book Ross is a very successful plastic surgeon, but he carries a past which is very troublesome He marries and does numerous surgeries on her to make her perfect She becomes ill and seeks alternative medicine which her husband is against This is only the beginning of the drama of her married life with Ross which begins to unravel, and her meeting a doctor of alternative medicine And to top it off her husbands past begins to carry into the marriage with [...]

    • ross is at the top of his profession one of the most successful, and certainly richest, plastic surgeons married to faith who he sees as the perfect wife he is devastated when she falls ill and turns her back on conventional medicine when she links up with a therapist, ross sees this as the ultimate betrayal and will take whatever steps he sees fit also aided by his shadowy past i found this story too full of co incidences and also holes for a guy who wnats and needs perfection he would not hit [...]

    • 5 million stars for this one I love Peter James books I am a little worried that he now seems to have gone down the serial route with his detective Anyway these books written before he went full on crime are absolutely marvellous Great story Faith is the main female character and that is all I will say The story builds nicely toward the end and everything is packed into it I was so tense reading the last few chapters on the bus journey home I was talking out loud at what came next and causing a [...]

    • creepy The character Ross Ransome is certainly one of my most hated characters I ve ever read A combination of arrogance, entitlement, and pure psychopath The chilling part is that this character is totally believable as a controlling husband I found this one hard to read because I knew it was going to be an awful relationship from the start and I really didn t want to read about the abuse that would unfold However, it was very well written and was a page turner 3.5 4 stars will sit on it to dec [...]

    • I found this book incredibly creepy and scary The character of Ross Ransome felt very real and was well crafted and although I didn t particularly have anything in common with Faith and she frustrated me a lot I still wanted her to be okay I thought the story was excellent and my only point of annoyance was an English character saying goddamn which is a particular bug bear of mine All in all though I would definitely recommend.

    • I ve read a few of Peter James s books and I prefer his crime genre better This is an interesting story, the characters are very well portrayed and there are some nice twists in it And towards the end, I did want to know how it ended, but the overall story was just a bit average I guess A nice book to pass the time, but I wouldn t read it a second time.

    • A colleague at work passed this book on to me Not something I would normally read, being a psychological thriller suspense I think I may have found a new genre to love. The book was a great read, definitely believe in its events in that this could actually happen in real life I think that is what made it all the scary Think I will check out some of Peter James s other novels.

    • This book received mixed reviews from the average readers the critics loved it Personally, I found it absolutely fascinating It borders on being a psychological thriller, one of my favorite genres I thought it was a super read

    • I really did enjoy this book.A proper fast paced Peter James which delves into the twisted psychological issues of a doctor disturbed by his childhood.Good characters, a little predictable at times but a great read, thrilling to the end.

    • I loved it right up to last few chapters where I thought it got silly It seems like he tries to pull it all together and tie loose ends too quickly Also what happens in the lift was ridiculous A shame as I d been raving about it, most of the book, and thought it would be a 5 star.

    • A disturbingly real tale of obsession and lunacy that whirlpools into a classic white knuckle ride Classic Peter James at his best, and solid evidence that he can tell an excellent Orwellian nightmarish tale without the aid of our trusty friend Roy Grace.
