    • This book was an odd combination of murder mystery, animal education, and romance And while the main character was an adult woman, she often came across as of a ditzy teen in a sappy YA book As another reviewer noted, the murder was treated rather lightly, almost playfully at times Sadly, the lead character, someone entrusted with the daily care of expensive and sometimes endangered animals, was frequently too oblivious to the world she inhabited to be believable. There were several other myster [...]

    • This book is hard to characterize Nominally, it is a murder mystery set in a zoo but that is not a great description of it It is a story of a young woman zookeeper and animal lover and her infatuation with a co worker and how that affects and influences her care for the animals she loves and works with For a murder mystery, the tone is very light and quite amusing Hannah is a very likable, if somewhat flakey, protagonist, hardly able to keep her thoughts on one topic except when that topic is C [...]

    • Although I loved the concept of Murder at the Zoo , the mystery itself was quickly forgotten shortly after it was introduced, leaving the reader without any sort of orientation of where exactly the plot might be going Additionally, a romance subplot should serve to advance the plot, instead of being used a convenient page filler The climax was lackluster, but the mystery itself was decently executed Oh, and you shouldn t have the most obvious person of the bunch be the culprit, it s against the [...]

    • I read this primarily because the idea of having read both an academic paper in linguistics and another work in a completely different genre and field a mystery novel set in a zoo tickled me As a mystery novel, it left something to be desired It took too long to get to the first murder, the protagonist was not very proactive in solving the mystery in fact no one seemed to be, not even the police , and the resolution was just weird What redeemed it was the chirpy and amusing voice of the protagon [...]

    • I was sort of surprised that The Sloth s Eye ended up being a mystery I loved the animals and their care and would love of same, along with the people doing the work Animal technicians of all kind are wonderful people that form a very strong family I eat anything written about that So that is the part that I loved Keep up the good work

    • I won The Sloth s Eye from First Reads I look forward to finishing this book when I get the time I enjoy mysteries with animals and with this author being a zoo keeper I have high hopes for this one The first chapter was quite good.
